GeoSignal Privacy Policy

GeoSignal provides geopolitical briefings, regional analysis, impact assessments, maps, and market context. This policy explains the limited data used to operate the app and service.

Data GeoSignal processes

• Service, security, and aggregate usage data: the app creates a random client session. The service stores a one-way hash of the session token, session identifiers, timestamps, and entitlement status so it can return the correct content access level. Authenticated content reads do not update an exact last-access timestamp. To estimate aggregate readership and service demand, GeoSignal counts successful requests for the current operating picture. For each calendar day, a request carrying a valid client session contributes one secret-key pseudonym to a daily distinct-session estimate; the bearer credential is transformed before enqueueing and is not retained in readership state. Hourly records contain only aggregate request totals and no identifier. The daily pseudonym is not used to calculate cross-day unique clients. Requests without a session are counted without an identifier. Readership records do not store IP addresses, forwarded headers, user agents, bearer or session tokens, edition or story identifiers, or details of what someone read. A client session is not a verified person or device, and automated callers may affect estimates. Hosting infrastructure may still process standard request metadata such as IP address, user agent, and request time for delivery, security, and operational diagnostics.
• Subscription data: if paid subscriptions are introduced, GeoSignal may process Apple-provided product, transaction, renewal, expiry, refund, and revocation identifiers. GeoSignal does not receive or store payment card details.
• On-device data: the app stores the latest already-authorized edition in its cache and stores its opaque session token in the iOS Keychain. If you choose to set a Watchlist reminder, its notification content and schedule remain on your device and notification permission is requested only in response to that action. Cache files are excluded from device backups.

How data is used

Data is used only to deliver and secure the service, maintain content access, produce aggregate estimates of readership and service demand, restore subscriptions, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Readership data is not used to build user profiles, personalise content, advertise, or track people across other companies' apps or websites. GeoSignal does not use third-party advertising SDKs or sell personal data.

Sharing

Data may be processed by infrastructure providers needed to host and secure GeoSignal and by Apple for App Store distribution and subscription processing. Those providers are expected to protect data under their applicable terms and privacy obligations. GeoSignal may disclose information when required by law or to protect the service and its users.

Retention and deletion

Application request-access logging is disabled by default. Any operational logs kept by hosting infrastructure are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security and reliability. Daily pseudonymous presence rows and identity-free hourly totals are kept in the live database for a configurable rolling window of no more than 35 calendar days; secure deletion is enabled for ordinary SQLite deletions, and operator reports expose only aggregate counts. Separately managed backups may follow their own bounded retention schedule. Session and entitlement records are retained while needed to provide access, resolve subscription issues, prevent fraud, or comply with legal obligations. Removing the app deletes its local cache; iOS may retain Keychain items according to platform behavior. You may request deletion of server-side session or subscription records through the support contact published on GeoSignal's App Store page.

Your choices

GeoSignal does not request access to location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, advertising identifiers, or health data. You can stop service data processing by discontinuing use and deleting the app. Subscription management and cancellation are available through your Apple Account subscription settings if subscriptions are introduced.

Changes

This policy may be updated as GeoSignal evolves. The effective date above will change when material revisions are published.
